Privacy Policy
Softkit builds focused creative tools — QuickCut for desktop video, and ArtKit for vector and raster design. This policy explains what information our apps and websites handle, what stays on your device, and how to contact us.
1. Who we are
Softkit is operated by Jerome Lacote (doing business in connection with Victorise). Softkit apps and marketing sites are indie products — there is no large advertising network behind them.
Questions about this policy: support@victorise.com
2. What this covers
This policy applies to:
- The Softkit marketing website at softkit.web.app (and related Softkit product pages)
- QuickCut desktop applications (macOS, Windows, Linux)
- ArtKit in the browser (softkit-artkit.web.app) and ArtKit desktop builds
- Related Softkit support, privacy, and terms pages
It does not cover third-party sites you may visit from our pages (for example GitHub, Apple, Microsoft, or Google store listings). Those services have their own privacy policies.
3. Quick summary
- Editing stays local. Core editing and export run on your computer or in your browser tab. Softkit does not require an account for core features.
- We do not upload your media to Softkit servers as part of normal editing or export.
- Desktop apps do not phone home. QuickCut and ArtKit desktop builds do not collect analytics, crash telemetry, advertising identifiers, or usage statistics in the current product.
- The marketing site and ArtKit browser app use Google Analytics 4 (via Firebase) for traffic and product interest — not for advertising.
- Hosting may log basic request data (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability.
4. Local processing & your files
Softkit apps are designed to work with files you choose. The apps access media, projects, and export destinations only when you select them through system dialogs, drag-and-drop, or in-browser file pickers.
During export or processing, temporary working files may be created on your device (or in browser temporary storage). Those temporaries are intended to be removed when the job finishes. Softkit does not operate a media cloud for your projects.
You remain responsible for the content you import, edit, and export, including having the rights to use that content.
5. Desktop apps (QuickCut & ArtKit)
In the current desktop product builds:
- No Softkit account is required for core editing features
- No analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising identifiers are included
- No usage statistics are sent to Softkit
- Your project files and media remain under your control on disk
Desktop apps may still talk to the network when you choose to — for example opening a download page, visiting documentation, or following a support link. Those visits are governed by the destination site’s policies.
If a future desktop release adds optional telemetry or update checks, we will update this policy and describe the change clearly before (or when) it ships.
6. Website & ArtKit in the browser
The Softkit marketing site and the ArtKit browser app use Google Analytics 4 (via Firebase) to understand traffic and product interest. Examples of events we may record:
- Page views (which Softkit pages people open)
- Download or “open in browser” clicks
- Other button / CTA clicks we mark for product interest (for example feature-request links)
Analytics events may include approximate device/browser information and a client identifier managed by Google Analytics. We use this to improve the site and products. We do not use analytics data to serve ads, build advertising audiences, or sell personal information.
Softkit does not require you to create an account on the marketing site or in ArtKit’s core browser editing experience. If you contact us by email or open a GitHub issue, we will process the information you choose to send so we can respond.
7. Cookies & local storage
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser storage to distinguish sessions and measure traffic. ArtKit and the marketing site may also use ordinary browser storage (such as localStorage) for app preferences or temporary working state. That local app state stays in your browser unless you clear it.
You can limit or block cookies and storage through your browser settings or privacy extensions. Blocking analytics may reduce the usefulness of our traffic reports; it does not disable core local editing features.
8. Hosting logs
Softkit sites are hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Like most hosting providers, Firebase may retain standard request logs that can include IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer, and timestamps. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and reliability — not for advertising.
9. Third parties
We rely on a small number of processors / platforms:
- Google / Firebase — hosting and Google Analytics 4 for the marketing site and ArtKit browser app. See Google’s privacy materials for Analytics and Firebase hosting.
- GitHub — if you open issues, discussions, or request source access, that content is governed by GitHub’s privacy statement and the visibility settings of the repository.
- App stores / download hosts — if you download Softkit apps from Apple, Microsoft, GitHub Releases, or similar, those platforms process download and account data under their own terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
10. Retention
- Your media and projects — retained on your device (or in your browser storage) under your control. Softkit does not keep a copy of your editing media for normal product use.
- Analytics — retained according to our Google Analytics / Firebase property settings and Google’s retention controls.
- Hosting logs — retained according to Firebase / Google Cloud log retention defaults or our project configuration.
- Support email / GitHub — kept as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a reasonable support history.
11. Your choices
- Use Softkit desktop apps without creating an account
- Block or clear cookies / site data in your browser
- Use browser privacy tools or extensions that limit analytics
- Avoid opening optional external links (GitHub, stores) if you prefer not to use those services
- Email us to ask questions about this policy: support@victorise.com
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to certain processing. Because Softkit’s core apps are local-first and we do not run user accounts for editing, many requests will simply confirm that we do not hold your media. For analytics or support correspondence we do hold, contact us and we will help where applicable.
12. Children
Softkit apps and sites are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when products, hosting, or analytics practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Softkit sites or apps after an update means you should review the revised policy.
